Namte Namte is a Bengali romantic drama film was released in 1978. The film is directed by Dulal Guha and the music composed by Hemanta Mukherjee.The film has achieved an everlasting success in Bengali Cinema for its songs, acting, direction and the romantic chemistry between Dhritiman Chattopadhyay and Sharmila Tagore. It also was one of the first films to have a song sung entirely by children. The film was a remake of Telugu movie ""Aadi Uthama Naadu"", which was later remade in Hindi as "Kis Kisko Pyar Kiya".

The film won Bengali National Film Awards:The song "Namte Namte" was remixed and shortened with the same title, and released as a Bollywood song, by the Bollywood music director Aadesh Shrivastava. The music of the song has been reused as background score for the movie ""Dilwale"" (2015), directed by Anees Bazmi. The film has come under criticism from certain sections of the press such as "Anandabazar Patrika" and "Bishal Prahar". The film was portrayed as a "debacle" and ""Shri Sharmila Tagore's Namte Namte"". However, the song ""Namte Namte"" is well known for its excellent rendition by children and has been described as a part of Bengali folk music tradition. The lyrics of the song were written by Jibanananda Das.
